Earthwatch has partnered with Stream2Sea since 2019, creating awareness around the impact of sunscreen and other cosmetics on the environment and offering planet-friendly alternatives. Stream2Sea was started by a cosmetic chemist who looked at her skincare products and realized she could create something better for her skin and for the planet. Stream2Sea sunscreens and other products have been rigorously tested to be safe for coral reefs, fish, and other life in our oceans and rivers. Earthwatch depends on donations—above and beyond what we raise from volunteers who participate on our expeditions—in order to deliver our global conservation mission. In fact, volunteer contributions provide only half of the total resources Earthwatch needs to sustain over 40 field research expeditions, a wide variety of educational programs, corporate sustainability trainings, and more each year.
