Picerne Family Foundation

The Picerne Family Foundation supports and develops innovative programs that provide opportunities for individuals to increase their abilities, talent, and knowledge so they can better contribute to creating active and healthy communities.

Since 2012, the Picerne Family Foundation and Earthwatch have partnered to give Southern California high school students the opportunity to actively engage in ecological sustainability, both locally and internationally through The Global Sustainability Project. During the program, participants are given the opportunity to perform meaningful service in support of their community’s environment and to do intensive international environmental field research. Over the years, we have strengthened this partnership, and now the Foundation awards full scholarships to 40students and eight teachers each year to participate in a 12-day research expedition. Half of the participants join the expedition Conserving Endangered Rhinos in South Africa, while the other half join the expedition Amazon Riverboat Exploration.

YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

Earthwatch depends on donations—above and beyond what we raise from volunteers who participate on our expeditions—in order to deliver our global conservation mission. In fact, volunteer contributions provide only half of the total resources Earthwatch needs to sustain over 40 field research expeditions, a wide variety of educational programs, corporate sustainability trainings, and more each year.
