Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation

The Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation is the charitable arm of Eastern Bank. Each year they fund over 1,500 local organizations to provide services to the communities they work in.

Since 2018, Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation has been helping Massachusetts teachers become better science educators through Earthwatch’s Teach Earth program. This hands-on professional development experience improves science and environmental education by providing passionate teachers with the training, support, and resources they need to launch new endeavors and achieve new successes in their schools and classrooms. Teachers from across the country work alongside world-class scientists on leading environmental and conservation research projects. A Senior Teacher fellow guides the teachers in improving environmental education in their schools by developing lesson plans that embody the hands-on nature of science. Hundreds of Massachusetts students have benefited from Eastern Bank’s support.

I cannot take my students around the world, but through stories, pictures, videos, and my connections with teachers around the globe, I hope to bring the world to them… I am confident that my passion for protecting our planet, along with the experiences and knowledge I gained through Earthwatch, will impact my students and their communities for the rest of their lives.

YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

Earthwatch depends on donations—above and beyond what we raise from volunteers who participate on our expeditions—in order to deliver our global conservation mission. In fact, volunteer contributions provide only half of the total resources Earthwatch needs to sustain over 40 field research expeditions, a wide variety of educational programs, corporate sustainability trainings, and more each year.
