Since 2017, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation has been helping Massachusetts teachers become better science educators. Each year one teacher in an underserved community has been awarded a Teach Earth fellowship, joining teachers from across the USA on a hands-on citizen science expedition. They spend their days working side by side with a leading scientists gathering critical research data. While the evenings are spent reflecting on how to improve environmental education at their schools and creating lesson plans for their classrooms that exemplify the hands on nature of science. Hundreds of Massachusetts students have benefited from Eastern Bank’s support.
