Earthwatch is an international environmental nonprofit organization that engages people in scientific field research and education. To achieve our mission, we offer research expeditions at exciting locations around the globe. Participants on these expeditions assist top scientists as they investigate important questions about how we can better protect our planet.

Location: South Melbourne, Australia

Position Type: Full time

Salary: $60,000 plus superannuation

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Public Program and Marketing Manager oversees all aspects of the public volunteer program which involves promoting, recruiting and retaining paying volunteers. The position is responsible for achieving targets for volunteer field participation and developing strategic plans for enhancing the outreach of Earthwatch. The role also involves developing social media and general communications for Earthwatch as a whole and requires representing Earthwatch in the field during research expeditions. Program Manager works closely with the Director of Programs.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Management of the Public Program.
  • Increasing number of volunteers joining the Public Program.
  • Building and maintaining the organisational profile with key audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Tertiary degree in marketing, sales, communications, or an equivalent combination of experience relevant to this position.
  • Demonstrated marketing and sales experience, min. 1-2 years.
  • Experience in communication and PR strategies, in particular in acquisition campaigns and retention.
  • High level competence in the full range of software applications including word processing, spreadsheets and design software.
  • Knowledge of on-line communications and social networking.
  • Proven ability to write publications i.e. editorials, e-newsletters, online content and proposals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including an enthusiastic and engaging phone manner.
