Why Grevy’s zebra?
“The population of Grevy’s zebra in northern Kenya has dropped radically over the last few decades. The reasons are not obvious - hunting and habitat degradation are only part of the equation. By monitoring and observing the behavior and activities of Grevy’s zebra, we can provide local conservation groups with the tools they need to protect this unique species.”
What future questions do you have?
“From a research point of view, there is still a lot more work to do, particularly to gather wet season data about the zebras and to support work with the Samburu community to develop complementary conservation and domestic animal husbandry strategies that will reduce the chronic overgrazing and soil erosion, which is evident across the community lands.”
