Land Rover Donates Vehicle to Earthwatch Research Center in Brazil
Staff at Earthwatch’s Regional Climate Center (RCC) in Brazil is celebrating after receiving a brand-new Land Rover Defender 110 in July
The new Land Rover in action.
The vehicle, donated by Land Rover, a long-standing partner of Earthwatch, will help staff and scientists improve the quality and safety of the field research at the RCC.
Located in the southern part of Brazil in the Rio Cachoeira Reserve, the RCC is accessible only by a 4 x 4 vehicle due to difficult road conditions. The vehicle will mainly be used to transport participants in Earthwatch’s forest research program at the RCC, which is investigating how climate change is affecting the tropical Atlantic Forest.
Since 2007, Land Rover employees have participated in Earthwatch’s field projects worldwide, enjoying the opportunity to experience environmental issues firsthand and bring what they have learned back into the workplace.
In Brazil, employees from HSBC, Alcoa, Ernst & Young, Shell, and Duke Energy have been helping Earthwatch scientists to determine the health of the forests.
