HSBC Water Programme Partnership Announced as Awards Finalists
Earthwatch and HSBC have been shortlisted for Corporate National Partnership of the Year with a Financial Institution for their joint work in the HSBC Water Programme. The awards, run by Charity Times Magazine, celebrate best practice in the UK charity and non-profit sector.
As a partner in the HSBC Water Programme, Earthwatch has delivered freshwater research and education to help inform and transform water management.
The project creates scientific knowledge and inspires a sustainable lifestyle at home, in the office and the community.
Key partnership achievements include:
· Creating a global citizen science database, FreshWater Watch, populated with data on freshwater quality which is being collected by HSBC employees;
· Involving over 8,000 HSBC employees in research programmes in 36 cities worldwide, collecting data on freshwater quality and biodiversity;
· Engaging over 100,000 people in an online network to learn about and take action on monitoring freshwater resources.
The winners will be announced on 28th September 2016 at the Awards Gala Dinner.
