Earthwatch Participates in Business for the Environment Climate Summit

Paul Laird, Earthwatch’s director of corporate partnerships, will lead a roundtable discussion focused on sustainable forestry and agriculture at the upcoming B4E Climate Summit on September 12-13, 2011, in London.
Laird coordinates Earthwatch programs with British American Tobacco and Syngenta to raise awareness of the impacts of agriculture and forestry on biodiversity and develop capacity and skills to address those impacts.
Through the HSBC Climate Partnership, Earthwatch has developed a scientific research program that is making a significant contribution to global understanding of how the world’s temperate and tropical forest ecosystems are responding to climate change. The partnership also develops employees to become sustainability leaders who help implement and champion change in the business environment.
Themed “Reaching for Zero: Innovation, Growth and the Clean Industrial Revolution,” the B4E Climate Summit 2011 will gather international leaders from business, NGOs, agencies. and governments to share innovations and strategies for zero-based targets and transformative business solutions. Discussions will explore new technologies and business models that leading companies have established, as well as the necessary policy support and investments needed to scale these up. The outcome of the summit discussions will provide valuable input to the UNFCCC COP 17 and the Rio Earth Summit 2012.
