Securing the Future for Sea Turtles

Sea turtles have roamed the oceans for more than 100 million years. They play a key role in marine ecosystems by maintaining the health of seagrasses and coral reefs. Today, however, six of the seven species of sea turtles are threatened or endangered. Over the past 45 years, Earthwatch has supported 21 sea turtle research studies in 13 countries around the world. In this video, you’ll hear from the Earthwatch scientists who lead our ongoing expeditions Costa Rican Sea Turtles (http://bit.ly/1ji4qjP) and Tracking Sea Turtles in the Bahamas (http://bit.ly/1Y58Zv2).
