The National Australia Bank prides itself on its efforts to look after both the environment and its employees. In 2007 NAB signed the Equator Principles, a voluntary set of standards for determining, assessing and managing environmental and social risk in project finance. 2007 also saw NAB committing to becoming a carbon neutral company, prompting significant enthusiasm and interest amongst its staff towards creating a more environmentally sustainable workplace. Through various environmental programs, including the partnership with Earthwatch which began in the same year, NAB’s aim is to involve every employee in its environmental agenda, and it is continually working to increase environmental awareness across the business.
One of NAB’s specific corporate social responsibility aims is to “address our broader responsibility to society by supporting communities, managing our environmental impact and having a positive impact through our supply chain”. NAB has chosen to work with Earthwatch Australia in pursuit of this goal.
