ACE UK

The Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE UK) represents the U.K.’s leading beverage carton packaging manufacturers. ACE UK members include beverage carton producers Tetra Pak, SIG Combibloc, and Elopak. ACE UK is also supported by paperboard manufacturers Stora Enso and Billerudkorsnäs.

ACE UK’s mission is to:

Support environmental policies, activities, and legislation in the field of packaging, waste, recycling, and recovery.
Contribute to U.K. environmental policy, activities, and legislation related to beverage carton packaging, tied to renewable resources.
Communicate the beverage carton’s environmental credentials.

ACE UK aims to better understand services that sustainable forest management practices can bring, making a lasting difference to forests and communities worldwide.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

In September 2010, ACE UK and Earthwatch met to discuss our shared interest in sustainable packaging and well-managed forests. In order to help bring together policymakers, NGOs, and companies that depend on forest products, Earthwatch has chaired a number of policy roundtables organized by ACE UK, which have raised awareness of the benefits of responsibly managed commercial forestry and explored the role of forest certification. We welcomed the opportunity to work with ACE UK members and their suppliers to ensure that the forests from which they source raw materials are responsibly managed and to improve knowledge and commitment to act on environmental issues.

Through partnerships with organizations like ACE UK, we can reach out to consumers, helping them to better understand how their choice of product or supplier can impact the environment, and giving them an opportunity to make a difference. We look forward to exploring how our relationship with ACE UK can make a lasting difference to forests and communities worldwide.
