Earthwatch is an international environmental nonprofit organization that funds field expeditions in more than 50 countries.

Earthwatch expeditions provide individuals with opportunities to participate in hands-on scientific research all over the world. We also partner with schools, businesses, governments, and other philanthropic organizations to enable a broad range of people to learn and change the world through our experiential model.

Staff members at Earthwatch develop, manage, market, and recruit for our varied expeditions, programs, and partnerships. Earthwatch does not employ the scientists or research staff that run the expeditions we support; they generally work for universities or other research institutions.

Program Coordinator - Public Engagement

Earthwatch is seeking an organized and adaptable individual, with prior travel experience and excellent customer service skills. As Program Coordinator, you will focus on delivery of the Public Program for North America, United Kingdom and Europe as well as other locations as appropriate, working to prepare all participants from the region fielding across the international portfolio. The role will liaise with other Program Coordinators across Earthwatch regions to implement and inform best practice of outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate will ensure the programs you work on deliver an excellent Earthwatch experience, which advances mission objectives, makes best use of resources and meets or exceeds customer expectations. Key to success in this position is enjoying working with the public, problem solving, attention to detail, being organized and adaptable, and the ability to work as an effective team player.

Program Coordinator – Grant and Program Delivery

Earthwatch is seeking an organized and adaptable individual, with experience in coordinating international programs and a solid understanding of science and sustainability. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting Program Managers in the creation and delivery of citizen science programs and projects, and in particular all aspects of preparing participants for their expeditions and stewarding scientists. Since this position will provide support to programs in a variety of countries, we are looking for someone who is fluent in Spanish. The role requires strong customer service skills and the ability to interact collaboratively across internal departments and with participants. The role requires creativity and flexibility in an often fast paced environment. He or she will also work closely with a team of Program Managers, Coordinators and International Staff to provide support to the organization in completing the mission.

Web Content Manager, Urban Resiliency Initiative

This science writer/manager will develop compelling story content for a new website to be launched as soon as possible. The writer/manager, a natural storyteller, will be responsible for developing content on an ongoing basis, serving as the linchpin to web-based program communications and media outreach efforts for a very specific program. The program involves close to 20 partnerships with nonprofit and research teams in the Los Angeles area, a website is urgently needed to build a stronger online presence, community and brand; to share results; and more.

Research Associate Intern

Earthwatch supports field research that utilizes highly motivated non-specialist volunteers, also called citizen scientists, to collect data. The Research Department is responsible for soliciting, reviewing, and recommending research proposals for funding and supporting researchers throughout their Earthwatch careers. Earthwatch supports cutting-edge science through field-based expeditions that address: • What is changing? (Discovery) • Why is it changing? (Understanding) • What can we do? (Action) Research Associate Interns will assist the Research Department in a variety of tasks to help support the research team and Earthwatch scientists.

Education and Corporate Sustainability Intern

Assist in a variety of tasks that aim to engage and inspire confident ambassadors who are passionate about supporting sustainability within their organization and their community.
