Technology Intern

Earthwatch supports field research that utilizes highly motivated non-specialist volunteers, also called citizen scientists, to collect data. The IT/Operations Department is responsible for using technology to develop efficiencies within the non-profit business model, analyzing customer and project data for trends, and maintaining data security.
Operations Coordinator, Part Time

The Operations Coordinator will focus on supporting business operations in order to maximize sales, revenue, and customer satisfaction; reduce cost; and improve efficiency. The role will work directly with the Operations Manager and liaise with other staff to ensure efficient operations and assist with the execution of new business initiatives. The ideal candidate will be organized and adaptable and possess prior project coordination experience.
This is a Part-Time, Temporary, Hourly position of 20 hours per week. At minimum, this position runs through the end of September 2018; however, there may be an opportunity to extend the engagement beyond that.
Multimedia Intern

As a multimedia intern, you will assist Earthwatch’s Communications Department with a variety of tasks relating to outreach and engagement with the Earthwatch audience. You will help to manage Earthwatch’s social media channels by developing content, contribute to the blog, archive and digitize Earthwatch media material, and support efforts to generate new marketing campaigns. For spring interns, you will get the opportunity to help plan and execute content and events for the 2018 City Nature Challenge, an international 3-day citizen science challenge uncovering the biodiversity within local communities.
Impact Evaluation Intern

This intern will support the Program team to evaluate the impact of Earthwatch expeditions on education program participants. Our education programs provide teachers with professional development opportunities and teen with hands on STEM learning. As an intern you will assist in collecting and analyzing evaluation data from these program participants to communicate a compelling story.
Research Associate Intern

The Research Department is responsible for soliciting, reviewing, and recommending research proposals for funding and supporting researchers throughout their Earthwatch careers. Earthwatch supports cutting-edge science through field-based expeditions that address:
• What is changing? (Discovery)
• Why is it changing? (Understanding)
• What can we do? (Action)
Research Associate Interns will assist the Research Department in a variety of tasks to help support the research team and Earthwatch scientists.
Fundraising/Environmental Outreach Intern

The Fundraising/Environmental Outreach Intern will manage an online and/or in-person auction to raise funds for two scholarship programs available for underserved, urban youth in Boston and New York City. The scholarship programs send high school students interested in pursuing post-secondary education in the STEM disciplines on a fully funded Earthwatch expedition. Work on the auction has been started by a previous intern. The Intern may also choose to assist with a variety of tasks relating to recruiting volunteers to participate in citizen science and experiential learning trips, with a focus on high school aged groups.
